004. Data Replication Among Arbitrary Orgs
Metadata is data on other data, aiming to inform and facilitate the organization of information in an org core. The word "meta" comes from the Greek idiom and means " in addition to".
When we talk about Salesforce Commerce on Core there are native alternatives and partners that facilitate and streamline these tasks. The standard native functionality is the famous and old Change Sets, which allows for “deploy” within the same org ( https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sf.changesets_about_connection.htm&type=5 ). Salesforce has recently launched and has been stimulating use of the Devops Center (very nice and complete solution) which, like other partner products, allows for “deploy” not only within the same org, but also between arbitrary orgs. Some more famous partner paid products are Copado, Autorabit and Flosum. Other options are Salesforce extensions for VS Code and Code Builder supported by Salesforce CLI and Salesforce APIs. Both products provide a robust set of tools for the development on the Salesforce platform.
Already transportation of data among orgs (arbitrary or not) require another type of effort and there is no native solution that does it directly, without having to export the data from one org and import on another one, using solutions like Data Loader (“free” and the most used), Dataloader.io (“free” up to a certain limit), Data Import Wizard (limited in the use of only 5 standard objects) and Workbench.
We had a recent use case in Le Creuset (Chile & Colombia) where the volume of changes of various content and records of promotions, prices, images (including CMS - Content Management System that we talked about in the previous post) using D2C license (B2C), was very time consuming and the work of replicating in production was too slow.
At the Le Creuset request, so therefore Sottama designed and developed in just two weeks, a solution that allows to replicate specific data from the B2B and D2C (B2C) objects of Commerce on Core between different arbitrary orgs, allowing users' replication via lighting interface Data from specific object records or all of them inserted/edited, including data from CMS Enhanced. This replication can be scheduled at a specific date and time.
This was a great innovation that met customer expectations in record time.
